Tutorial: Making A Custom Header For Your Blog

Hey Everyone!
I have decided to do another tutorial today ;)
The purpose of this tutorial is to show you a simple way to design and make your own beautiful header for free, using PicMonkey.com.  So, here we go!

Firstly, go to PicMonkey.com.

Scroll over the Design button, and select the Facebook cover canvas.

Now you should be here.

On the left side of the page, you can choose your canvas color.  Once you've chosen the color you want, click the green "Apply" button.

Now scroll down on the Basic Editing options, and select "Re-Size".
First you'll want to click the check box beside "Keep proportions".  Then change the first box so it says 800, and the second box so it says 200.  Then click "Apply".

Now go to the side where you see the little icons, and click on "Frames".

I usually do the Simple Edge for headers.  Of course, if you have a Royal Membership for PicMonkey, you have access to more frames, and may want to do one of those.

Once you've selected the Simple Edge, you can change the color and thickness of the outer edge...

…and then do the same for the inner edge.

At the bottom of the drop box, you can adjust the corner radius, if you wish, to make rounded corners.

Under the corner radius adjustment tool, there is a caption space tool.  This gives you more space at the bottom of the header, and you can later add your description if you like.  This step is completely optional, or course.

Now you have a header complete with a frame and colors.
The next step is to add your text (the name of your blog).  Click on the "Text" icon.

Scroll up and down the font selections until you find the one you like.

After you've found the font you would like to use, click on it to select it.

Then click the "Add Text" button.

A transparent box will appear on your design.  Click on it to type the name of your blog.

Once you've typed the name of your blog, make the text as large or as small as you would like.

Then you can change the color if you wish.

You can arrange the words in different ways as desired.

Now you may add another text box for the description if you so wish.  I'm not going to add one to this particular header, though.

If you want to leave your header as it is, you're done.  If you would like to add a little more decor, clock on the Overlays icon.

Scroll and look for the overlay(s) you want.

Click on a category to see more of those overlays.  Select the one you want.

It will come up on your header, and you can change the size.

You can also change the color.

And arrange it how you like.

Add as many overlays as you want.

Then click the "Save" button.

That will take you to this page.  In the bottom left hand corner you can click the green "Save to my computer" button.
And that's that!  You can customize it any way you like, with different colors, frames, fonts, overlays, etc., etc.  You can then add it to your blog.
I will do another post soon, and show you how to add your header to your blog.

Hope you enjoyed this!  Thanks for viewing! :)
